NHDES SWOT: Wonder Women of Solid Waste
At this NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Solid Waste Operator Training (SWOT), a panel of women who are employed in NH’s solid waste industry will discuss what it has been like for them to break into a field that in the past has been thought of as a male's profession. The panelists include Bonnie Bethune, NRRA Senior Member Services Representative and NRRA Board Members Joanie Cudworth (Hollis) and Erin Paradis (Barrington), as well as representatives from other NRRA member communities and an NRRA vendor. The panelists come from all different backgrounds and hold different positions in NH solid waste facilities. They will discuss their own work experiences and how those experiences have influenced their careers. The purpose of this workshop is to encourage women to get more involved with the industry-side of solid waste and educate attendees on what challenges may exist for women in the solid waste field and how to overcome them.
